Intro
ProSensus MultiVariate was originally conceived as a statistical software package to aid engineers in the analysis of batch process data. It became evident, shortly after development began, that many of the algorithms in the software were being written with a general data structure in mind. Once this was fully realized, the decision to make MultiVariate a general data analysis tool for PCA and PLS of any data type, including batch trajectory data, became a reality.
At ProSensus, one of the main goals in developing this software was to provide an easy-to-use software tool where all of the methods, calculations, and algorithms used within the software will be transparent to the user. See our References page for information about the methods used in ProSensus MultiVariate.
Batch Analysis
One of MultiVariate's many strengths is how it handles batch trajectory data. Inside ProSensus MultiVariate is an implementation of the most recent research into extracting information from batch process trajectories and related data. The understanding gained by analyzing all data simultaneously is invaluable to any practitioner who must be able to detect abnormal batch behavior, diagnose causes, and eliminate problems for future and evolving batches. ProSensus MultiVariate embodies the statistical quality control philosophy demanded by today's leading manufacturers.
ProSensus MultiVariate is an excellent tool to evaluate SPC techniques for batch processes before they are implemented online. The ability to detect and diagnose faulty batches as they occur can avoid expensive scrapping or rework costs and lead to process improvement and understanding.
The wealth of information within batch process databases is vastly underestimated. Yet while techniques to efficiently extract this information and graphically present it have been available for some time, there are few packages available that do so effectively.
